Thailand: Labelling of Genetically Modified Foods (GMFs)

On 07 June 2022, Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) issued Notification No. 431 Re: Food Derived from Genetically Modified Organisms and No. 432 Re: Labelling of Food Derived from Genetically Modified Organisms. These two notifications will come into effect on 04 December 2022. In MOPH Notification No. 431 Re: Food Derived from Genetically Modified Organisms, new Genetically Modified Foods (GMFs) other than those listed in Annex 1 must undergo safety evaluation before importing into, selling in, and manufacturing in Thailand. It is not allowed to indicate ‘Free from Genetically Modified Food’, ‘Non Genetically Modified Food’ or other similar expressions on the food package.
